Tea parties vow to continue fight

Injunction for Arizona law should rile activists, tea partyer says.

The immigration debate in Arizona has sparked a new tea party.

The Pima County Tea Party Patriots plan to hold a rally Thursday morning in favor of the state's new immigration law, despite an injunction that has halted major portions of the law.

"This doesn't deter any of the supporters," said Jennifer Leslie, who helped create the group last month. This week's action will be the tea party's very first.

Leslie blamed supporters of the law for not organizing as well as the opposition. She said that immigrant-rights groups have been bussing in activists from nearby states while Arizonans have kept quiet.

"The minority got mobilized and got their message out," she said.

Now, Leslie believes it's their turn. She expects the injunction to rile up people who favor the law and get them to join the protests her group is planning.

"This is not a one-shot thing," she said. "We are going to be the voice of the opposition."
