Mothers lobby for paid leave
Many parents with sick children can't take time off work.
A group of mothers are coming to Capitol Hill Wednesday to deliver homework to lawmakers.
The "summer reading assignments " are actually stories from parents who don't have enough paid sick leave to take care of their children. The grassroots group has been working on issues that affect parents.
"More than 50 million employees – almost 40 percent of workers in the United States – are not allowed by their employers to earn paid sick days," MomsRising wrote in an e-mail.
The group wants lawmakers to pass a bill that makes paid sick leave mandatory.
