Groups plan weeklong BP protests

Activists concerned about the oil spill have planned multiple actions.

Activists are following BP executives around Capitol Hill.

The company's reps are in town this week attending Congressional hearings and meeting with the president over the ongoing Gulf Coast oil spill. On Tuesday, members of the Rainforest Action Network brought bottles of oily water to give to oil company executives.

That was just the beginning.

Here are the events groups like Code Pink, Greenpeace, and Public Citizen have planned this week:

* Wednesday: As company reps visit the White House, activists plan to protest outside. They will be demanding that BP pay for the cleanup and that President Obama promote alternative energy sources.

* In the evening, demonstrators plan to gather at BP's downtown Washington offices for an all-night event. They will be waiting for BP CEO Tony Hayward, who is expected in town the following day.

* Thursday: Hayward is scheduled to appear at a House hearing in the morning, where he will be greeted by protesters. The activist groups promise "great photo opportunities" for reporters.

* Saturday: Protests are being planned at BP gas stations in Washington and across the nation.
