Tea parties grow on campuses
Some students try to distance movement from traditional groups.
Tea party groups are cropping up on college campuses throughout the country and boosting the ranks of conservative groups, according to the news blog Politics Daily .
But not all college students involved in the movement are comfortable associating themselves with traditionally Republican groups:
The differences in conservative ideologies have led to conflicts between Texas A&M political groups. When organizations like the Young Conservatives of Texas or the College Republicans plan different Tea Party events, Hunter notices limited student participation.
The article also refers to an umbrella group called Campus Tea Parties that is helping organize some of the college efforts. The model resembles College Republicans, the conservative mainstay on most campuses, which has a national board supporting student efforts.
Campus Tea Parties is based in New Jersey and works mainly with colleges in that state for now.
