Rep. Harold Rogers
Sen. Mitch McConnell

February 19, 2013

First thank you for your continued service to our Republic and the district you represent.

The purpose of my correspondence is to go on record with my view on gun control as you deal with this emotional issue.

Maintain the status quo is my bottom line.

I'm fully aware of the challenges you face in dealing with this issue and the pros and cons from both sides. Please resist allowing yourself to be influenced by the strident voices of the pro vs. no minorities.

If we enforce laws already in existence at both the state and federal level, much can be accomplished.

We are not known around the world as a nation of pacifists nor of deeply held convictions of non-violence. A minority of us will always react in a violent and antisocial manner. I accept this and encourage at every opportunity my fellow citizens to do the same.

There are a plethora of "straw man" arguments regarding this important subject; the second amendment, individual "liberty", self protection, right to collect guns, etc. etc. The problem is simply stated: it's almost always bad to kill other people. Don't do it.
Most civilization have always believed that.

All I ask of you is to discharge your sworn duty to "...preserve,protect and defend, the Constitution of the United States of America" and to serve the best interest of the people of the district you represent.

Do that, and I will continue to support, pray, and campaign for you.
