The general topic of this message is Energy:
Rep. Michael Turner
Sen. Sherrod Brown
Sen. Rob Portman
March 12, 2013
I received an Oblivious answer to an earlier note concerning DST from Sen. Brown. It has been shown BY MEASUREMENT STUDY OF INDIANA POWER USAGE both before and after DST was imposed on them, that DST INCREASES ENERGY USE. While the Senate is marking time (not attending to budgetary items, for instance)would it not be possible to address this WASTE of energy caused by flopping our clocks back and forth?
If there is anything more irritating than an answer which shows the reader had no intention of addressing the issue at hand, it escapes me what it could possibly be!
"There have since been several amendments to the Uniform Time Act. The most recent moved the start date of DST forward a week to the second Sunday in March and changed the ending date to the first Sunday in November. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 called for the extension of DST to save energy. Studies suggest that use and demand for electricity is directly related to sleep patterns. The belief is that since daylight is extended by an hour when observing DST, less electricity to power lights will be needed. "
