Federal Jobs
To: President Barack Obama
November 7, 2009
Dear President Obama,
I have been emailing you about my husband for about a month. My
husband is a native Iranian with his United States citizenship.
He has a lot of higher education and yet he works as a custodian. He has
a BS in Petroleum Engineering, BA in Business, Operations Management, and
is one course away from obtaining an MBA which he will take this winter.
He has been applying for positions with the Department of Interior,
Minerals Management Services for at least two years. He just recently
applied for two more positions on the USA Jobs website. He always
scores very good and usually gets referred to the hiring department, but
that is as far as his application goes.
I am hoping that you will have someone look into this for him since he
just recently applied again for some positions. I believe he is being
passed by because he is 57 years old and because he is of Iranian decent.
This is against the law and it should not be allowed especially for jobs
with the Federal Government.
Please do everything you can to see that he is given a chance to interview
for the positions he has applied for and is given a fair assessment of his
qualifications. He is a very able and talented man and deserves to work
using his education. He also speaks Farsi, Turkish and of course English.
I believe he would be a great asset to the Federal Government. He has
been paying taxes and has actually lived here longer than he lived in Iran.
Please, please do not allow this discrimination go on any more.
Cheney , WA
