Health Ins

Dear Elected Officials,
I am writing you today to plead with you to get this health care reform passed now. I cannot wait until 2013 for affordable health ins. I make $100,000 a year - my husband has been unemployed for a year - and we cannot afford health ins. When I was laid off from my employer last Dec, I was lucky enough to be able to sign up for COBRA under the reform that lasted 9 months. Well the nine months are over, and for my husband and myself the COBRA will go up to $900 per month starting 12/01/09. Now my husband and I live a modest life. We don't have credit cards, have never missed a house payment, have modest cars, and a modest house in a blue collar neighborhood. And on my salary, we can hardly afford to go to the movies once a month, much less afford an extra $500 per month for the COBRA rate increase! We budget every penny. I tried to get normal insurance, but the same carrier I have been with for 7 years wont approve me because I have had epidural pain management for a bulged lumbar disk. In all other ways I am very healthy. Millions of Americans suffer from back pain. That makes us uninsurable? WOW!
My husband suffers from Asthma. We are too afraid to start seeing a Dr for him now, because if we start the process under COBRA, and he gets a job, then his new insurance may not cover the asthma because it's a preexisting condition. So what are we paying the premium for?
We are supposed to lead the world, and we are failing in every way. Maybe my husband and I should immigrate to Canada, Israel, France, Denmark, or any of the countries in the world who value health and provide options for the countrymen who reside there. Or maybe I should have access to the same health plan you elected officials enjoy? That would be fantastic! I hear it's amazing coverage. (You can thank me for providing it for you) So, as you sit comfortably covered for any medical emergency, remember that the folks paying your way, are terrified that they are one illness away from complete disaster.
