Our Military Deserves Better

November 7, 2009
Hello Mary
I hope you do not feel the same as the President on our Military?
Urge him to make better choices,
Urge him to seek experience when he has a sensetive issue to address.
As a Mother of Three in the Military, I had a different Take than the President. Instead of Business as Usual, I would have seen this Tragedy as a A heartfelt Blow to All americans, Not only have some of the Dead and injured just come back from Months away from home Protecting us, and some soon to depart, My heart went out to the families of the Dead and Injured, and the the Members of OUR Armed forces all across the World, as we feel as a Family, what happens to one, Happens to All.
It is Sad Our President does not feel the same.
I Guess this falls right in line with How this Administration feels about the Military and there Role in ""his"" Administration.
He can use them for a PHOTO OPT and be seen Saluting our Soldiers who lost there life while Protecting this Nation on Camera, But not make a decision, since Late August about sending additional Troops requested by the General who he requested to ""Win this WAR OF NECESSITY.""
Then as the Tragedy of Ft Hood was reported, once again our Commander and Chief showed his Concern of the Tragedy with a ""Shout Out"" which was wrong , as if he was a Radio DJ on a Friday Night in a Teen Audience.
What a disgrace from our leader.
The Brave Men and women who are in our Military and families of the Families or the Brave men in women who were Injured or Killed Deserves Better.
""After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.
But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?
Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter. The president should apologize for the tone of his remarks, explain what has happened, express sympathy for those slain and appeal for calm and patience until all the facts are in.
That's the least that should occur.......It Did Not
The Military are our Last Stand of Freedom...... They should never be the Last After Thought in a Political Speech.
