Climate Bill Ram Through
To: President Barack Obama
Sen. Dianne Feinstein
Sen. Barbara Boxer
Rep. Brian Bilbray
November 7, 2009
Dear Ms. Boxer:
"Senator Barbara Boxer, Democrat of California, the committee's chairwoman and co-sponsor of the bill, employed a rarely used exception to customary committee rules to muscle the 959-page measure through her panel. She conducted three days of hearings last week on the bill, known as S. 1733, but there was no debate on the complex measure, nor any chance for panel members to offer amendments."
You wish to pass something that will burden the American People with even more financial hardship, American businesses with even more financial hardship, on an unproven theory, which will enrich the already very rich, including Al Gore, who has preinvested with his assumption that the sheep in Congress will pass this bill based on his "inconvenient lies," without reading it... Will this monstrousity be posted on line for everyone to read?
Do you realize that while the "greens" are against oil, coal, natural gas and nuclear power, in reality, they also find ways of opposing wind farms (as in transmission lines across the desert), solar power and fossil fuels because of "stated environmental impacts."
Do you realize that wind energy cannot be stored (as fossil fuels can) for use when needed and that, when the wind doesn't blow, the energy isn't generated?
Do you realize that it takes more energy to produce biofuels than they generate? Do you also realize that it consumes food in a world where there isn't enough food?
Do you realize that solar, while probably the best of the "bunch," also is extremely expensive to acquire, does not produce cost-effective energy except in warm climates, and does not produce much on cloudy days?
Until these methods are proven and available to utilize at costs at or near what nuclear and fossil fuels cost - or some other replacement is devised that does the same - it would be foolhardy and stupid to lay yet another burden on an overburdened economy and a virtually bankrupt nation with depression-era unemployment.
This is not really as much a "climate" bill as it is another BIG GOVERNMENT takeover bill and a BIG BROTHER watching your every move bill.
We need to do some serious cost cutting at the Federal Government level, not adding more encroachments on our freedom and violations of our Constitution.
Your ram through of this bill out of committe shows your arrogance once again. I am looking forward to the elections in 2010 and your replacement.
