Subject:
Health Care Reform vote in House
To: Sen. Harry Reid
November 6, 2009
Though I live in CA, my son attends UNR, and I am "connected" to the state of Nevada. As the single mother of a 19yr old attending college, I am VERY CONCERNED about his future. About the burden that this HB3400 (formerly HB3200) will be putting upon me and more importantly on HIS generation once they are out of college and working. $1.2 TRILLION per the OMB. This is absolutely not fair.
There's no reason to reinvent the wheel.
A big improvement to Health Care can start with some simple measures and changes to current practice:
-Allow us to buy insurance across state lines
-Allow small businesses to get a competitive insurance rates by grouping together and having the same buying power as large corps and unions
-Put a cap on lawsuits and tort reform and stop frivalous lawsuits
-Put a cap on malpractive fees paid to attorneys (the bulk... 80%) should be given to the injured party, the plaintiff.
-No coverage to ILLEGAL aliens. Must have a mechanism to verify status and eligibility of anyone getting gov't funded or subsidized health care.
-No abortion coverage by this plan (and yes, I am pro-choice especially in pregnancy from rape and incest, but NOT partial birth murder abortions... I am not paying for someone else's abortion with tax payer monies)
-No reduction to the Medicare payments to physicians who are already paid LESS than payments from insurance co payments
-No reduction (or cost savings) by eliminating the Medicare Advantage plans that seniors can opt to purchase in addition to their standard Medicare coverage.
- consider the input and cross the aisle to work with Republicans on the Senate proposal. The HB3400 (formerly HB3200) is an astronomical 1190pages of confusing legalize and obsfucation. As Rep John Conyers said about the 1100pg HB3200, he hadn't read it and would need 2 LAWYERS to translate it for him. What do we American citizens have to do to have the Congress listen to us? What do we do to have the White House listen to us??
Working on the Health Care Bill is not so important that House of Rep legislators should have to give up spending Sat. and Sun. with their families. How many thousands of dollars will the extra expenses involved with working these days cost the taxpayers? Though it's not in Senate, I really would appreciate having an answer to the cost that House Speaker Pelosi will be incurring for American tax payers this weekend.
Again, thank you for consideration of this email from a concerned single mother of a 19yr old.
I would agree to the Health care plan you are pushing when YOU and all Senators and all Congressmen / Congresswomen agree to having the same health care.
