The Chairwoman of the House Committee on Rules, Louise Slaughter, seems likely to propose a Rule that allows for debate only on the Ellsworth language but not on the Pitts-Stupak Amendment. The Ellsworth language is NOT a prolife compromise regarding tax payer funding of abortion. Please reject any rule that does not allow debate on the Pitts-Stupack Amendment.
Better yet, stop the complicated 2000 plus page bill from passing altogether. Besides its length, it does not allow for freedom of conscience among health care workers, it does not allow free market competition which would encourage excellence, better service, ultimately providing better health care and choices for health care. It will take away the client/health care worker relationship and put the government in as middle man. It appears to be a government takeover of a major part of the economy.
I know you are working hard at defending the right to life and liberty, and ask you to keep up the good work! There is a much simpler solution to the problems with health care delivery. You have touched on these in your tele-town halls. Thanks!
