Unemployment Benefits Extension

To:
Rep. George Miller

November 4, 2009

Please, do not dither with the recently (today 11.04.09) Senate passage of the Unemployment Benefits Extension. I live in California (94806 zip code) and I have been without benefits since the 2nd week of September. Though my partner and I are better off than most, because of my over 18 months of unemployment (I have a BA degree plus 1 year of post-graduate work) we are struggling to live on his disability as a result of AIDS. We desperately need this extension. It has been languishing in the Senate since late end of September 2009.

I am very disappointed in the Democrats; in Barack Obama; it would seem that the Congress cares little to nothing for the American public. It did not take as long to pass the 787 Billion dollar stimulus for the Banks/Financial institutions--what are we? Only 5 to 25 dollars contributors for the Congress's job security? Enough is a enough. As a life long Democrat, I am re-registering as an Independent--and if necessary in the future, not voting. Somewhere, somehow, the American public has been discarded while the narcissistic, self-promotion, K-Street lobbyists and others are stroked.
