Healt Care Bill

To:
Rep. Michael Turner

November 2, 2009

We all agree that we need health care reform, the issue is whether to
A. Make health care better or
B. Make big Government bigger and pray that against all odd and historical precedents that a miracle occurs to make health care better.

I hope you choose A.

The bill coming to the floor is a nearly 2,000 page cesspool of bad ideas for bigger, more intrusive bloated government, with the myth (lie?) that we can insure 50 million more people for free.

This bill does nothing to actually reduce the cost of health care.

It relies on a fictional cut in reimbursements and sleazy accounting tricks to create fictional savings that will never materialize. It also does not take into account the nature of supply and demand as well as human nature that governs cost.

Before you even try to go to a national plan do something to address the cost of doing business for doctors: Ie TORT REFORM.

We need meaningful bold tort reform that will fundamentally change the way family practice doctors practice medicine by removing the risk of costly frivolous law suits with outrageous penalties for unfavorable outcomes.

My family practice doctor will not perform any diagnoses beyond a minor cold without sending me to a specialist. Why? Because he practices defensive medicine. So rather run the risk of a one in a thousand chance that he might miss something, he sends me to a $300.00 per visit specialist who runs $3-10,000 worth of tests to eliminate any possibility (however remote) that the ailment might be something other than the obvious. Thus to avoid one missed diagnosis and veritable financial ruin for the doctor, 3-10 million dollars are spent.

A health care bill without meaningful tort reform is a wast of time and money.

Please do not vote for this bill. I cannot tell you how hard I will work to change my representation if it goes through with your vote.

Thank you for your time.
