I am writing to you to encourage you to support a comprehensive healthcare bill which will supply preventative healthcare to all Americans. I currently find myself in the unenviable position of being a statistic: I am one of those you hear about who has healthcare but cannot afford to go to the doctor. I also, like many of my co-workers, cannot afford to take days off from work when Iam sick. You can imagine the conditions in the offices during flu season!

As comapnies struggle to save costs the quality of the healthcare being provided has declined every year of the past ten. Although I contribute, via monthly payroll deductions, to the payments of my healthcare plan, the deductable is so high that my plan for 2010 is "don't get sick". I've also had to tell my daughter, who is a junior in college, that that is the plan for next year.

My daughter contracted swine flu earlier this autumn. All medical expenses had to be covered out-of-pocket as our health care provider has no "in network" participants in her area. To call it healthCARE is a cruel joke.
