Please represent the people and support the public option. Health care decisions should be made solely by the patient and their medical professional. Third parties whose interests lie only in profits have no business deciding what health related treatment should be granted or denied. To insurance companies money trumps the quality of life of human beings. These third parties are choosing who gets to live and who gets to die. Americans' quality of life and health hangs in the balance.
You know all of this.
Should money and influence continue to be more important than life itself? The choice here is one that calls on your compassion, your morals, and your empathy toward your fellow man. My parents retired before they were 65 years old and lacked insurance during that time because they could not afford it. They would ration their prescriptions because they could not afford to pay for them risking their lives and wellbeing in the process. For a time, I was unemployed and uninsured because I could not afford it. I would not go to a doctor - risking my wellbeing - because again, I could not afford it.
Please explain why in a country "of the people, by the people, for the people" these are decisions many every day Americans have to face while insurance companies continue to profit at our mortal expense.
We need real change, a public option, because in a country as rich and as powerful as this one, quality health care for all of its citizens should be an inalienable right.
