Subject:
Health Care and the Deficit

I am writing in hopes that we step back and not pass this massive health care bill. I know that the leadership feels that it is imperative to get it done now, but I don't think it is imperative considering the state that we are in. With all the massive spending all ready sent out in an attempt to boost the economy coupled with it's crippled state, another huge spending bill is a very bad idea. No matter what is said how it will be "deficit neutral", the track record proves otherwise. Especially considering the current fraud and waste occurring with current programs. I believe that if this bill is passed it will eventually be the cause of a real economic meltdown because of the huge debt the country is accumulating. I don't understand the blind eye or shrugged shoulders attitude toward the huge deficit problem by Congress. This is exactly the reason for the current mess that we are in economically. Being brought about by the consumers overextending themselves. They can thank the government for setting the example and then pointing fingers at others for the blame. It truly is insanity. It would be a foolish, reckless thing to pass this bill because of the urgency of the leadership. Then, pat yourselves on your back and claim innocence when it all unravels into disaster some years from now. By that time many of you will be out of office and we will be left with the catastrophe to deal with. (Of course the then lawmakers can always point fingers at you to blame.)
I also believe we are at a crossroads here of change that is not good change. The free market system has always been the life's blood of the country. The current administration is out to change that. They believe they can do a better job. It is the beginning of a deathblow to our freedoms that have helped make this nation a great nation. Regulations are needed, but mostly hands off by the government is essential to keep our freedoms alive. It would end in a dismantling of the foundations of the country. It is bad, very bad. If you can't perceive this happening or you agree with it, I can't understand that.
All these things will be laid at your feet as being responsible for. There are better, wiser paths to go down. Better for the country and for you. Please hold ground and don't allow the few to further push us onto the thin ice.
Think what will happen if another 9/11 occurred? It doesn't even have to happen here. The world is so interdependent now that another blow economically would be incomprehensible. We are way beyond our means right now. Wisdom should be ruling.
Thank you for contemplating this. Please help and make wise decisions for the good of the country.
