Healthcare Bill
To: Sen. Herbert Kohl
October 30, 2009
Dear Senator Herbert Kohl,
I plead with you do not sign this bill. This healthcare bill does not in any way reform healthcare but only allows government to take it over. Even if the so called government option is not technically in the bill, with the penalties and with all the government regulations all the private insurances will be forced out because they will have to raise premiums due the smaller pool of insurers and the regulations. Even if insurance companies could survive, they will essentially be a government insurer due to the massive regulations imposed.
If this bill goes thru, I will lose my insurance in a short amount of time either due to the insurers financial health, the insurance company changing a dot or a I on their policy, my company deciding it is cheaper to take the penalty than to cover me on an insurance policy, or the government just deciding there can be no private insurance after a given time.
This healthcare bill does nothing to address the roots of the rising cost of healthcare. Our premiums will go up without any advantages of increases in real medical coverage or quality. I fear what my son who is severely autistic or my dad who is 85 with Alzheimer's will or will not receive treatment, not to mention the rest of my family. Government run healthcare in no country where it been implemented, has ever work in any way, only bankrupting the medical system of that country.
How can this country afford any more debt and unfunded liabilities? Countries in which has a government run system for a period have either implement changes to increase privatization or searching how to privatizes.
