Health Care Reform Cost Too Much

To:
President Barack Obama

Rep. Mark Kirk

October 28, 2009

Yes I do believe that health care desperately needs reforms but lets make a change that allows me and doctor to be in charge and not the government. Change the laws and let competition and the free markets ensure affordable access for every American.

The public option, as proven by government's ability to manage it current programs such as Medicare, will be far too expensive. The administration estimates its health reforms will cost as much as $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years. It is no coincidence the Obama budget nearly triples the national debt over that same period.

I have seen first hand the health care system in the UK and it scares me to death. Please do not make this mistake for me and my children. Our health care systems need reforms, but it is not time to scrap what works for the majority of American families just to help special interest groups.

We are Americans and we can make the free enterprise system work. Socialism is not the answer.
