Please support a public option that is available to everyone. I'm lucky to have health insurance through my employer. However, insurance companies need competition, and the public option cannot fully support this goal unless it's available to everyone, even those with employer-provider insurance. Health care reform will not be effective unless everyone has choices.
People should not be forced to support the for-profit health insurance industry. If everyone isn't allowed the option of joining the public option, then the insurance companies will find underhanded ways to push sick people onto the public plans, while they keep the healthy people who are profitable.
Health care reform requires party discipline. If a Democrat will not support a public option for everyone, then he should face primary challenges, no financial support during the next election, and should lose all committee memberships or other benefits of the party. I will actively work against any Democrat that fights against the public option.
The public option is a test that shows who are the "real" Democrats, and who stands with the people rather than the corporations and big money. Please support a public option that anyone can choose to join, and refuse to support a bill that does not include a public option. The people need choices, the insurance companies need competition, and Democratic representatives need to face consequences if they support corporations rather than the people. Thank you.
