H.RES. 865
To: Rep. Henry Waxman
October 27, 2009
Dear Representative Waxman,
I believe that the United States should adopt a target of 350 parts per million of atmospheric carbon dioxide by which to evaluate domestic and international climate change policies, and for other purposes.
The most recent science tells us that unless we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, we will cause huge and irreversible damage to the earth. FYI… we are already at 387 ppm. 350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide-measured in "Parts Per Million" in our atmosphere. 350 PPM-it is the number humanity needs to get back to as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change.
On October 24th, people in 181 countries came together for the most widespread day of environmental action in the planet's history. At over 5200 events around the world, people gathered to call for strong action and bold leadership on the climate crisis. Today the number 350 is the most important number in the world and the most well-known. 350 defines what is necessary for our earth to continue as we know it.
I am writing to ask that you support H.RES. 865 and do everything in your power to make this a reality. Thank you for your time.
