Subject:
Please oppose the "Medicare Physician Fairness Act"
To: Rep. Charles Gonzalez

Dear Congressman,
I ask that you oppose the 'Medicare Physician Fairness Act'.
As the son of two physicians, I know that (despite the economy) doctors are not in dire danger economic straits and this bill is unnecessary.
More importantly, by repealing the existing Sustainable Growth Rate Formula, the country will set itself up for bigger budget deficits in the long run.
We all know that entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare are not fiscally soluable in the long run. The SGR payment system is a rare instance of a program that is actually sustainable. The proposed changes would make a nice increase in physicians' salaries but would hurt the country (and upper-income tax payers, like doctors, who have a bigger tax burden) in the long run.
Thank you
