Public Option
To: Rep. Leonard Boswell
October 26, 2009
I am writing to voice my concern regarding the proposed government take-over of the health care system in the United States. I have not seen nor read anything in the various versions of the Health Care Bill in the House of Representatives that address the root causes of rising health care costs: tort reform; interstate competition among insurance companies; tobacco use; and obesity. The current proposals amount to nothing more than an attempt to institute price controls and tax hard-working middle-class Americans.
Regarding the Public Option, hospitals in Des Moines do not turn away anybody from the Emergency Rooms for lack of health insurance. For those without health insurance that need additional care they are sent to Broadlawns Medical Center. Those people that need health care and seek out treatment it is available.
I am asking you to vote against any health care bill that does not address tort reform, interstate competition among insurers, tobacco use and obesity. I am also asking you to vote against any use of tax dollars for a public option.
