Increased Truck Weights

Dear Rep. Jean Schmidt, I like your survey on truck weights by asking 1000 adults performed by Wilson Research Strategies. I think you should have asked 1000 trucking companies of what their thoughts might be on this subject. I have been in the trucking industry for 31 years and am part owner in a small trucking company. I know that this cost will be put on the trucking indrustry.[ higher cost in axels, insurance, tires, brakes, trailers, ect .] When the government deregulated trucking years ago, one of the selling points was they would increase the truck weights to 80000 lbs. which would mean more profits for trucks. The truth of the matter is we are hauling 80000 lbs. for the same rates as the old 73280 lbs. rates. The trucking industry has not have a raise in pay for 30 years. I would like to see you work without a raise in pay for 30 years. this bill is bad for the trucking industry which is allready in bad shape.
