Health Care - Insurance Competition?
To: President Barack Obama

Your voters are getting a bit upset. We are not stupid or oblvious to facts.
Your point is evil Insurance companies that take advantage of patients. .Let's offer a "public option" that create another insurance company to compete and drive down costs. Sure sounds but..............
One fact I dont understand: Aetna, United Healthcare, Humana, and Cigna had 2008 Net Profits of 4.4%, 3.6%, 2.6% and 2.3% respectively. (Source: Annual Reports). Smaller companies make much less. You and I both know that those levels are way below all other industries. At what level do you consider competitive? Should they operate negative? I also dislike the way they question everything I submit, but how else can they survive?
To Mr. Obama, the problem is not insurance.
- The medical equipment we have access to today costs a lot more.
- The drug companies spend enormous emounts of money to develop new drugs that take years of fighing red tape and many do not survive.
- Tort lawyers attack both to make millions, not protect the patients.
You are all smart people. Fix the problems, don't create more. PLEASE.....
Consider this - our country is a patient and we are bleeding badly. You appear to be focused on getting us new clothes, a haircut, and mouthwash. Please stop the bleeding..................
And no, I am not rich and the present economy has hit me hard. BUT I am not willing to sacrifice the future of my children/grandchildren for a very short term and shortsighted gain.
