Health Care

Dear Rep. Bono Mack:
We need to deal with the health care cost crisis in this country and we need to do it NOW.
As a parent, I'm sure you'll understand my consternation at the fact that my young adult son, who is a resident of California, recently received a bill for $2,000 for a mere two hours of care he received in an ER of a New Jersey hospital last summer.
He entered the ER with severe tonsillitis and laryngitis that had prevented him from drinking, eating or working for several days. He was given IV antibiotics to fight the infection and rehydrate him. Upon discharge he was given oral antibiotics to take home. That's it. Nothing major. Nothing invasive. $2,000!
This is a young man who works in the arts as a theater sound technician. He can't get full-time work let alone a job with benefits.
He is one of our country's hard working citizens who needs guaranteed, affordable health care. They need it sooner, not later. It is you solemn duty, obligation and job to make sure they get it.
I seldom vote for incumbents, but an elected official who could cut through the fear tactics and hollow rhetoric to actually get a suitable health care plan in place would be worthy of my vote.
