H. Cong. Res. 201

I read the above bill and approve. We have seen with the Stimulus Bill alone the egregious amount of earmarks added. It is appropriate to have stricter oversight on earmarks. Some of the ones we have seen in the Stimulus Bill are downright a waste of taxpayer money and hearing of amendments made or earmarks included in bills that have already been presented in final form to be voted on is sneaky. Then the government wonders why we don't trust them.
I don't think most of our members in Congress or even in the WH consider the fact that each time a bill is passed that it has to be paid for by the taxpayer and is the question asked, "is this a wise and prosperous way of using taxpayer money?". I don't think so.
Rep. Castle, I wholly approve of this bill. This is would be a bi-partisan check and balance of earmarks and hopefully ensure only those that would significantly add jobs and be a positive improvement are added. An egregious example was the improvements to the John Murtha Airport. That is something I would not vote on and something the American people should not be forced to pay for. A stricter check and balance would benefit us economically by ensuring that our money is spent wiser.
The Senate could use this too. Considering the Democrats have a majority control of both Houses this is an area where bi-partisanship is really needed and requiring a majority vote from both parties would eliminate one-party control. The Republicans did it when they had majority control but it is time that our government reverse it's direction, especially with the difficult economical times we are living in, and get back to governing on a bi-partisan platform and legislating on behalf of us, the American public who elect you and pay you and fund the operations of this country.
Perhaps if you capture the Senate seat next year this can be implemented if it isn't presented before.
