H.R. 3789
To: Rep. Marcy Kaptur
October 21, 2009
Dear Representative Kaptur, I praise your efforts, comments and actions regarding the mortgage foreclosure crisis. How I wished all democrat representatives were as dedicated to serving their constituency as you.
I was recently made aware of HR 3789 ,which if adopted, would place innocent people at risk and add another level of supervision to Homeland Security, among a number of negatives this resolution would provide.
I performed an exercise where I envisioned the number of different individuals who would have access to such weapons, exclusive of the owner. Regardless of the privacy expected by the passenger, once his luggage has been secured at boarding and placed aboard the train, how is this right to be enforced? What value would such a resolution provide we citizens? I can see nothing of value. I understand the fringe element of the conservatives as they try to remain relevant but this resolution deserves to denied in the strongest sense.
Excuse me for being forward but I have a suggestion. Why not introduce an amendment to the resolution requiring all individuals who have any opportunity to be around the stowed weapon, to have a security clearance and require each of these individuals to obtain and maintain an appropriate security bond, this would offset the probable costs to the government if in the worst scenario, a weapon was loosed and used.
This nation's unreasonable desire to arm themselves at the behest of the radical republicans is getting out of hand. I urge you to reject this resolution.
