Please Co-Sponsor and Support H.R. 3789

To:
Rep. Steve Scalise

October 20, 2009

Please co-sponsor and actively support H.R. 3789 legislation 'To permit Amtrak passengers to safely transport firearms and ammunition in their checked baggage.' The bill will permit law-abiding gun owners to travel by Amtrak with their arms and ammunition for any of a myriad of legitimate reasons without interference from authorities. Hunters and sportsmen will be able to travel with their gear into those remote locations served by local trains but not served by airlines, without enduring the vicissitudes of travel by private vehicle. Participants in other of the shooting sports would be enabled to use Amtrak to attend events and matches in urban and suburban venues with the equipment and supplies needed for participation. Perhaps the happiest reason to pass the legislation is that H.R. 3789 will drive the anti-gun crowd and their media sycophants into a state of foaming-at-the-mouth dudgeon. The most compelling reason to support the bill is that your constituents are overwhelmingly pro-Second Amendment and will reward your actions on Election Day.
