Medicare for all

In order to have effective health care, private health care insurance companies need competition. We need a public plan that uses premiums for health care, not profits. The public option must be available to everyone, even if a person already has access to work-based health insurance. Medicare should be expanded so that anyone can choose to join. It is an existing program that we know works, and people already support it and are familiar with it.
People cannot be forced to buy insurance if the private, for-profit insurance companies are their only choice. Because the market is so consolidated, many areas are run by monopolies. Medicare for all would help address this issue. In a related matter, insurance companies should be held to anti-trust regulations like any other business.
We need health care reform with a public option now. Medicare should be available to anyone, immediately. The public option should include no restrictions or triggers. Insurance companies have had decades to fix their problems, and their insincere delay tactics should not be accommodated. Please support the American people, and not the insurance companies who are only concerned about profits, even if it means killing people through delays, denials and paperwork games.
