Governor Bobby Jindal

I believe in our country and I love our state, but lately our leaders have disappointed me and it feels like the Bush administration all over again. The people of Louisiana are counting on you not to be a politician, but to be or voice! I have several concerns. I see that a bill has just been approved for $7.5 billion aid for Afghanistan! How much more money do they need from us? How much more money must we give them for a war we can't win and a corrupt government? Their elections were bogus!! I thought we were going to try to end the war and our leaders may decide to send even more troops. When will this stop? I don't want my husband to go over there! I don't want anyone else's husband or son or father going over there! It is a war we cannot win!! Why are we even fighting this war? No one can even tell us what the objectives are over there! Democracy- their election was ridiculous! Peace- that land has been fighting since before Jesus and they will always fight. It's a war that no other country before us has ever won!
Now that NASDAQ has reached 10,000, CEO's get million dollar bonuses, while middle America is still confronted with foreclosures and unemployment! It's our money! If they are to be "rewarded" for their risk-taking, then they should have been "punished" when the bottom fell out of the market, but no we "rescued" the CEO's. The bail-out didn't bail out middle America, or anyone who lost their job or their home, it bailed out corrupt, arrogant, above-the-law CEO's. And the government allowed it!!
On education, as a school counselor, I do not mind working longer school hours and reluctantly I'll give up my summer. But to expect us to work on the weekends, as well is ridiculous. Right now we (schools) transport kids back and forth to school, feed them 2 meals a day, educate them, provide them with school supplies if families can't afford them, I'm sure we'll end up feeding them 3 meals a day if the school day is extended, why don't you make us go home and bathe the children and put them to bed for the parents, too! Why is it always the school's responsibility? Sure, I agree the school has the biggest responsibility to teach America's children, one that we are all proud of doing, but as a school counselor, I see children who have parents in jail, on drugs, absent parents, kids being raised by grandparents, many are part of blended, dysfunctional families. How are we, at the school, supposed to fix that!! When do the parents become accountable? Will parents be mandated to attend school conferences or volunteer in their child's class. Is it the school's fault children aren't safe walking home in Chicago, or New Orleans? Parents need to be responsible!! If I am responsible for educating everyone else's child, when will I have time for my own children? You've got to help us, Mr. Jindal!! You have to be the voice of Louisiana- the voice of hard-working America!
