Thank you for voting NO on the Department of Defense Authorization for FY 2010. I appreciate your vote that limits the growth of our out of control military spending at the expense of critical social and environmental programs. I am concerned however that your NO vote was influenced more by the included provision that extends the definition of federal hate crimes to include crimes in which victims are targeted because of their sexual orientation and gender identity, rather than the exorbitant military budget. Some clarification from your office as to your motivations would be appreciated by your constituents.
