Hate Crime Rider in Defense bill

I am opposed to this rider being attached to the defense bill, and am opposed to the weakening of the First Amendment.
I consider this motion, and the insertion of it 1000 plus pages deep into the bill to be wrong.
I would rather see a total withdrawal of troops from the ground in the Middle East rather than support the demise of our fundamental freedoms. I am concerned this country is heading down a socialistic path that will overshadow Orwell's 1984 and I will reflect my displeasure at the voting booth.
