Soon, despite a majority of the American peoples' opposition, the Senate Finance Committee will pass a health care bill onto the floor. Even if Sen. Snow is persuaded to vote for this bill, your party will have to take responsibility for the consequences. Attempting to call the result bipartisan will be ludicrous.
I strongly suspect the President Barack Obama will find a way to introduce a public option into the version that our Congress won't take time to read and won't have any clear idea what it contains.
You are about my age. We're both coming up on that time of life when we're beyond original design specs and all that will be keeping us going will be medical science. It doesn't matter what kind of elite personnel insurance provided to you by the government you might have, it won't be worth a damn when the universal health care plan eliminates the motives for the medical advancement we've known in the last sixty years or so. I pray you don't fall ill at all, let alone stricken with anything they don't already know how to fix. It won't matter how great a promise Barack Obama made to you, it won't mean a damn when you can't find a doctor because they retired, quit, or never went to school in the first place.
So, now's the time, Congressman Gonzalez for you to be what your Dad hoped you'd be--your own man.
President Barack Obama's health care plan isn't about health. It is about power and the end of the freedom we knew. Is that the nation you want your grand-babies to grow up in?
