Subject:
A Partial Answer to the 'Jobs Issue'
To: Rep. Leonard Lance

Dear Representative:
I read an article in the Boston Globe today in which you were quoted as saying about the jobs issue: "I don't have any magic bullets to offer. If I did I would have offered them".
Let me give you a couple of 'magic bullets: H1B and H2B visas. From the research that I did, I would estimate between 300,000 and 500,000 HIB foreign workers in the US today. The current aggregate cap on HIBs is 85,000 in 2009. Further, there are about 50,000 H2B temporary workers in the US with the cap of 66,000 H2Bs in 2009.
Phase out the H!Bs and H2Bs and both the number of jobs and salaries would increase. This will affect the corporation's bottom line, but I suspect you would agree w/ supporting people before corportations.
