Dear President Obama,
I would desperately like to know who makes the laws on workers' compensation. My husband and I are self-employed. We are, as of January 1, 2010, going to be hit very hard along with alot of other people. We have no employees. It is just the two of us. We have been paying the $750.00 ghost policy which covered no one, but if we wanted to work we had to pay it. Now we have been told that we are going to have to start paying $4,000.00 per year. We were struggling to pay the $750.00. I don't see any way possible to pay the $4,000.00. We have cut back on everything as much as possible. We do not want to loose everything we have worked so hard for just because someone makes a law. We can't even afford health insurance. So, I don't know how we could possibly afford this. We want to work, we love our job, but the lawmakers have kind of backed us in a corner. If we want to work we pay the money. What do we do? We live in a small town where the falling economy has hit pretty hard. I know that you have bigger problems than mine, but if you could find in your heart to help me understand why this is happening, I would be greatful. Thank you very much.
