Reform the PATRIOT Act

I am for surveillance of suspected terrorists, but feel the Patriot Act goes too far in violating US citizens rights to privacy. It has come out about the billions of phone calls that were snooped, & they weren't terrorists! This should be scaled back, because it's an awful feeling to wonder if Uncle Sam is listening to your phone calls, reading your emails, etc., when u have no ties with anyone who is a terrorist- nor would you want to! I would also like to not worry about anyone showing up at my door without a warrant to take me away, even though I have nothing to fear. This kind of power genuinely scares most people, & can be bad if it gets into the wrong hands. No warrants necessary on American citizens is OUTRAGEOUS! If the public could only know that people who are suspects are being spied on & not regular normal citizens, then I think the paranoia associated with doing this would subside. I read George Orwell's book many years ago in HS, "1984" and it will never leave my mind. We as citizens who love the US, need to have our privacy back, & don't have an issue with the govt. pursuing people who are known to be trouble, we just don't want to be targets, when we are innocent. It would make our nights go by sweeter, if we knew that no one could come into our homes & accuse us of something we didn't do, & take us away forever, from our families & friends. That's in the back of everyone's mind, since this started. Pres. Bush capitalized on FEAR, but after all these years, we need to get confidence back that we are safe within our beloved country. I ask you to please not only think of our safety, but our happiness, which would be as a result of knowing that we can't disappear, but are secure & have peace in our own homes. Thanks for reading this. :>)
