Don't Compromise on Health Care Reform

Okay, it's obvious now that the Republicans, and some Democrats, are going to do everything they can to ensure that no meaningful health care reform takes place in America. The Republicans don't want to give such an important win to the Democrats and they, as well as the Democrats who oppose a stable heath care system, are lining their coffers with the fortunes of the well healed insurance, and drug corporations. We are never going to have their help in the is process. NEVER!
So, let's get past them. Let's propose sweeping reform which allows everyone to either buy into Medicare or make it a right of being a US citizen. The CBO will undoubtably show the drastic cost cutting/saving measures instigated by such programs will save enormous amounts of capital over the years, and would provide something behind which the American people could rally!
Now, I realize this is a pie-in-the-sky proposal and a long shot. But it'd kill two birds with one stone! We'd be on the way to a true dialog in the US about what can really be done and what needs to be done for us to truly find sustainable answers to our health care problems, and it'd show just how corporatized our political process has become. Even if the bill didn't pass, these two conversations would set the stage for real reform the next time round!
Do not half step this, or you'll set the Democratic party, and the political process of advancing health care back a decade or more!
Thanks for all you do everyday!!
