Keep the Public Option for Health Care

To:
Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton

August 17, 2009

Health care insurance reform legislation is not acceptable unless it
contains a public option. Especially if the legislation is going to
be written to require that everyone carry health insurance. Without the
public option, this just becomes another gift to the health insurance
industry, giving them a whole new market of people from whom to
collect premiums. There is no reason why our government
cannot provide a basic health insurance plan for citizens, other countries have this, we should have it too.
