Greetings,
First, let me say that I appreciate the efforts you are making to correct the problems that we have in America, nay, in the World, however, we need to be sure we are understanding the real problem, and are working to solve it,and not just mask it , or "Band-Aid" it.
First,on the issue of "Health Care Reform", We can agree that we need reform to control prices, however, all the bills I've heard of so far pertain to who is paying.
. We all know that we can't lower costs by giving the government control, causing the need for committees and subcommittees and more government jobs. We need to concentrate on the sources of the problem. Most medical costs are inflated by the rising cost of Medical Malpractice Insurance" and tests and procedures necessary to protect doctors in a lawsuit. TORT REFORM is necessary to minimize the need for these costs, thereby lowering medical costs. This accompanied by measures to lighten the burden on medical facilities by people who shouldn't't even be here, but, that's another issue altogether.
Secondly, on the issue of "Climate Change" or "Global Warming", as it used to be called, we may disagree that it is caused by our various forms of "emissions", we can agree that a cleaner environment is better. Most or the proposed "fixes" seem to be to tax the ones who cause these emissions in the process of manufacturing products we need and export.
We all know that the only thing this will accomplish is to export most of our industries, hence, our jobs to other countries who will not tax them or control their emissions at all. The ones who do remain will merely pass these costs on to the consumer, since they are not in business to LOSE money. Alternately, I believe that tax CUTS to corporations who utilize/promote and provide clean energy sources would do more to control our environment, as well as promote jobs.
Thirdly, it is evident that our previous "Stimulus Package" has done nothing to stimulate our economy as a whole, and rumor has it that we need another??
More jobs are being lost everyday, as we throw money at the Wall Street giants and buying up failing companies, in the guise of "economic rescue". Those fewer jobs equate to fewer taxpayers to share the burden, and more becoming a burden.
In summation, every proposed and applied "solution" has, has proven to dig deeper into the pockets of "WE THE PEOPLE", and directed these funds into special interest groups pockets.
So much rhetoric about the previous administration's catering to special interest groups,i.e., Wall Street, Insurance Industries, Defense Contractors, et al, and this administration has continued to support these, and added more, i.e., Labor unions, Activist Groups, et al.
We don't need more "Government Control", we need more CONTROL OF OUR GOVERNMENT. I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who said: "A government big enough to supply you with everything you need, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have...."
